Blackhawk Artist Cuidera Dead

Artist Charles Nicholas "Chuck" Cuidera died on August 25 at the age of 86. Cuidera is best known for his work on Blackhawk and drew the aviator's debut in Military Comics #1, dated August 1941. He continued to draw the feature for nearly a year before joining the Army. After World War II, Cuidera worked primarily as an inker, collaborating with Blackhawk pencilers Reed Crandall and, later, Dick Dillin. Cuidera left the comics field in the 1960s, though he recently appeared at Comic-Con International: San Diego.
