Gaiman's Valentine

Neil Gaiman (Sandman) returns to comics after an extremely successful tour for his new novel, American Gods, in a project for Dark Horse Comics. Gaiman teams with illustrator John Bolton (Books of Magic) for a modern take on the classic commedia dell' arte legend of Harlequin and Columbine. Harlequin, a fool with an open heart, chases the love of his life, the sensible but oblivious Columbine. Gaiman's poetic writing combines with Bolton's painted and digitally enhanced photorealistic art to create a tale for anyone who has found Valentine's Day a bit hard to swallow. According to Gaiman and Bolton, all it take to cope is a steak knife, a fork, and a bottle of quality ketchup.

The hardcover book contains an eight-page backup feature on the commedia dell' arte, written by Neil Gaiman and illustrated by John Bolton. Harlequin and Columbine will be released November 21 with a $10.95 retail price.
