Dimension Goes for Duke Nukem

Following in the footsteps of Mortal Kombat and the June release of the film version of Tomb Raider, Dimension has acquired Duke Nukem: The Movie. Like competitors Quake and Doom, Duke is a fast-paced, shoot-’em-up game that has been criticized by parents, watchdog groups and politicians for its violence and gore. Considering the flak Hollywood has been getting over the past year in regard to violence directed to teens and children, Dimension's acquisition of the property seems odd but is no doubt influenced by the fact that the game has grossed nearly $1 billion in sales despite the criticism. Dimension says the final film will meet PG-13 rating requirements. The story will show Duke’s efforts to protect Earth from a collision by a giant alien ship.
