Miramax Grabs Avalon

At the American Film Market, Miramax Films nabbed the North American distribution rights to director Mamoru Oshii's live-action cyber-suspense film Avalon. The Polish- and Japanese-language film focuses on a beautiful woman who is unrivaled as the champion of a computer fantasy game. When her former lover becomes lost in the game, she decides to follow him to a secret level from which no player has ever returned. Miramax has not announced a release date yet. Oshii also directed the 1995 animated feature Ghost in the Shell.
